“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”
– Michelle Obama, Becoming

HISTORY

Established in 2012, CMP operates within the industry for the purposes of representing Owners during pre-construction, construction phase and post-construction phases of their projects. As consultants, we are committed to delivering on our core competencies in key areas such as Owner Representative, Project Management Controls, Construction Audit and Advisory services to a broad-based clientele seeking to improve their project outcomes.

CMP employs Lean Project methodology and practices that identify inefficiencies in process, protect and certify cost, eliminate project waste, support and enhance project management plans and objectives that demonstrate substantial value for Owners. As Certified Construction Auditors, we review, certify and segregate cost from pre-GMP development to post closeout phases of the project in accordance with guidelines set forth by the NACA (National Association of Construction Auditors).

In an industry facing increasing cost of labor/materials, scope-creep, compressed schedules, longer lead times for major project components, evolving technology, challenges around prefab assemblies and components, along with change management, and transparency in cost of work, Owners often seek partners with demonstrated experience in fast-paced environments. Our services represent a value proposition for Owners with a history of challenging underperforming projects. Our detailed results-driven PM model is based on a history of demonstrated capabilities in the delivery of large complex CIP programs which require heavy coordinated communication, effective partnering strategies, elevated technical skill and proven relationship management strategies.

Our proven implementation strategy, procedures, tracking and reporting systems consistently work to assist all project participants to fully develop the commitment, trust and partnering attitude necessary to ensure a successful project. Through effective management techniques, the Owner can be assured that proper steps are being taken to be proactive to problem resolution and mitigation of risk, all of which translate into greater levels of cost and schedule controls.  Effective project controls will reduce the threat of project delays, gaps in scope, all of which often lead to costly legal disputes.

CMP is committed to responding creatively to complex building and program challenges. Through our unique experience with a variety of delivery methods, negotiation techniques, budget reviews and scope management, we have proven that a few basic and well-developed concepts are the foundation upon which all construction projects should be built.

There are a finite number of activities that must be addressed with some level of detail, to secure the success of a program.  The size and complexity of the program will dictate the exact level of effort and cost for each required activity.  Ignoring any part of the process leaves the project vulnerable to potential problems.

Through effective management techniques, the Owner can be assured that proper steps are taken to solve problems and mitigate claims, which translate into cost and schedule overruns, disputes, and/or costly litigation.   Construction audit activities and procedures extend beyond a cursory check of invoices, application for payment, change order proposals, etc., to ensure guidelines and specifications are followed during pre-construction, planning, execution of the construction work and project closeout reviews and reconciliations.

A fully integrated project controls audit system provides comprehensive structured reviews throughout the entire construction delivery process while focusing and aligning targeted metrics with project costs and objectives to ensure the Owners project risk is protected.
